Friedmann and his mother moved to Nashville in 1986, when Friedmann was seventeen. Toni Jo’s mother lived there, and Victor was still working in Saudi Arabia. Friedmann’s inner turmoil turned outward. He began behaving erratically, holing himself up in his room. Toni Jo, fearing that he intended to harm her, called the police.
